Quota Collect

Quench in our hearts, O Lord, all fires of selfishness,
Unfold to us the joys of true friendship,
Open our minds to a better understanding of service,
Teach us the real meaning of sharing,
And help us to hold high those principles of Quota for which we stand

We hosted our First Annual Quarter Auction last Sunday on Oct 16th.  What a fun time that was had by all.  Above is the acution table these items were donated by our vendors.

Guests are getting ready to place bids...

Our Raffle baskets and 50/50 raffle...

Debbie, a Quota member, shows her "Creative Memories" products.  One of her auction items also raised $30 for the 'Susan B, Komin" foundation.
We had 10 vendors and alot of shopping was done.  I am sure several people got some of those holiday gifts finished.  We hope to see everyone next year and to make it an annual event.  Thanks goes to those vendors for their time and to all the Quota members that had a hand in pulling this event off!  It was a win-win winning good time for all!!

You Mean there is even more?

You are asking what more could there be?  Well, how about our Fundraisers!  We  host several fundraisers throughout the year to raise funds to support all of the services in our last blog as well as a few other we did not mention yet.  This year we hosted our First Annual Spring Luncheon at the Painesville United Methodist Church.  Our theme was a salad lunch buffet with over 15 different types of salads.  The fashions were "recycled".  Each model went on the hunt to find fashions from thrift stores or clearance racks.  Each model stayed within a $50 budget.
Our most popular fund raiser is our Annual Chinese Auction.  We hold it at the Father Tulley Hall at St. Bede's Church in Mentor.  With over 100 items to bid on how can you not have fun.  We also have a 50/50 and a larger items table. Did I mention all the homemade food we offer. Our next one will be held on May 18th in 2012.
This Sunday we will be having a Quarter Auction.  This is our first time at this venture and hope it becomes an annual event.  It will be held at the Senior Center in Fairport, Ohio. We will let you know how it goes.  We have 10 vendors that are donating 2 items to be auctioned off.  Should be a lot of fun.
In the past we have also had Reverse Raffles, Book Reviews, Impersonators and Bus Trips.
Hope we see you at one of our events.  The next blog will talk about one of the services these fundraisers support.....

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE...

So, you may be asking what do we do for our community?  As we mentioned in the last post we have been active in the placement of sound field systems in our schools and a near-by theatre.  But wait there is more!  We are active in "Make a Difference Day" and "Newspapers for Schools".  We have been reading tutors, and active in our local Kidsfests"".  One of our favorite programs has been to decorated small Christmas trees for a "Trees for Troops" program.  These trees get collected and sent to troops over seas.

We also like to help support other non-profit agencies in our community.  For example, we donate on a regular basis to Project Hope for the Homeless, and Forbes House.  We ring the bell for the Salvation Army every year.  For United Way's Day of Caring, we host a picnic for disadvantaged kids.  Then we are a proud supporter of Coaches Corner.  We have hosted a shower for them and helped with their Open House.  This is a brand new program in our area and are proud to have helped them from the beginning.
Our most recent adventure was to be involved with the Hearing Loss Association of America's "Walk4Hearing".   It was held in Lima, Ohio.  We raised funds for this group and walked 3 miles.
As you can see we are a very active organization.  The next blog will tell you more about our fundraisers that we have such a good time with.  Till then...
