Quota Collect

Quench in our hearts, O Lord, all fires of selfishness,
Unfold to us the joys of true friendship,
Open our minds to a better understanding of service,
Teach us the real meaning of sharing,
And help us to hold high those principles of Quota for which we stand

JUNIOR Q'S

We did it!
No, they did it!!

We have our first Junior Club.  They are a group of 7 young adults between the ages of 14-15 and call themselves the JUNIOR Q's  Their goal is to be of service to our community. Our goal is to support, sponsor, help and mentor this group.

So, they have alot of ideas and energy.  They have already begun their first project.  They are collecting coloring books and crayons for "Rainbow Baby's & Children's Hospital" in Cleveland.  Watch for the collection boxes at local stores.  If you would like to donate contact us at Quota and we will get the donations to them.

Do you know of some young adults that would like to start their own group?  Contact Karen Gridley at: karen5676@att.net for information on how to get started.

OUR MEETINGS...

Join us!!!
SO, WHEN DO WE MEET??   WHERE DO WE MEET?   HOW OFTEN DO WE MEET??

Well, we meet the 2nd and 4th Mondays of most months.  We tend to cut back during winter months, gotta love the "snow belt".  The first meeting is a business meeting, and it is just that, we conduct most of our business at these meetings.  The second is a program meeting.  We normally have a guest speaker or something a little more light hearted for the evening.  We hope members attend all meetings but know how busy life gets and are happy for attendance at any meeting. Basically there is not requirement for the number of meetings you attend.

We meet at Dino's on Rt. 306 in  Willoughby Hills.  Our meetings consist of a pre-reserved dinner which begins at 6:00 p.m. and then the meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. We really try hard to end the meeting in an hour to hour and half.  If you do not like our menu for the night , you can always order from Dino's wonderful menu.
The pre-reserved dinner cost $12 and includes dinner, dessert and salad.  We do ask you R.S.V.P by the Friday before one of our meetings if you are going to attend.  You can R.S.V.P  at  karen5676@att.net or call karen @ (440) 413-5267.  We welcome anyone interested in learning more about us at any meeting.  Keep an eye on our calendar to the right to see when we are meeting and what our programs are.
HOPE TO SEE YOU AT ONE OF OUR MEETINGS!!!

What was that project?

Ok, we said we would tell you about a project that our fundraising supports.  We just got so excited about our Quarter Auction that we snuck it in there.
So What is it we do with the money raised at our events?  One big project is Scholarships.  Yes, each year we give at least 4- $1000 scholarships to college students.  We have been doing so since 1990.

Our Janice Southworth Memorial Scholarship goes to Lake County students acceptd to an accredited 2 or 4 yr college program, in the fields of speech, hearing, visually impaired, physical therapy, social work, elementary or secondary education. Minimum GPA of 2.5  An essay is require along with 2 letters of recommendation.  The applications are reviewed in the spring (due April 15th) and presented at our June picnic.

Janice Southworth was a Quota member that passed away several years ago, in a car accident, on her way to Kent,Ohio.  Her husband donated the money in her name to start the scholarship and it continues still today.

If you or someone you know is interested in applying for our scholarship, please use the email karen5676@att.net to get an application, or you can call Debbie Lilly @ 440-346-5595.

OK, NOW THAT SERVICE...

We said the last blog was going to be about a project our fundraising supports.  Well, we just could not wait to tell you how our Quarter Auction turned out, so it snuck in there.

We mentioned we have several fundraisers during the year, what are those funds going toward?  One of our biggest things is SCHOLARSHIPS.  Yep, each year we give 4-$1,000 scholarships to college students.

The Janice Southworth Memorial Scholarship is for students entering in fields that relate to speech, hearing or a field that pertains to working with children.  The scholarship applications are reviewed in the spring and presented at our June picnic.
