Quota Collect

Quench in our hearts, O Lord, all fires of selfishness,
Unfold to us the joys of true friendship,
Open our minds to a better understanding of service,
Teach us the real meaning of sharing,
And help us to hold high those principles of Quota for which we stand

"MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY"

On October 25th, we got together at the Great Lakes Mall and participated in "Make a Difference Day".

Our group project for "Make a Difference Day" was Clothe-a-Child.

Clothe-a-Child is a News Herald (our local newspaper) project that pairs a shopper with a needy child.  Each Child is given a budget to spend between Payless Shoes and Sears.  (**please see side note a the bottom of the page!)

Kay and her child

Children and shoppers have about an hour and a half to go shopping.  The parent/guardian is does not come along.  We helped 7 children shop for boots, hats, pants, tops, underwear, socks and even dresses for Christmas.

Quota Shoppers: (From Left in Back row) LaVonne, Karen, Betsy,Jill (peeking from the back) Kay, Debbie, Kathi and not pictured Dick

The greatest reward is toward the end of your shopping time, seeing the transformation on your child's face.
Volunteers also work the registration table.  This is where the children and shoppers are checked in and return to reunite with parents/guardians.
Sometimes you never find out anything about the families, but this time;  We had a grandmother who had just had to take in her 3 grandchildren.  As we were shopping with the kids, we found out that their father had just passed away.  Hearing this made bringing a smile to their face even more rewarding.

After shopping, Tony Succo's Pizzeria treated us to lunch.  They wanted to reward C.A.C shoppers for their volunteerism.
** on a side note**
While posting this, an email was sent out to current Clothe-a-Child shoppers, this project is running out of donation funds to pay for shopping.  If you would like to donate to this great cause, contact The News Herald in Willoughby Ohio.  Or donations can be sent to Quota International of Lake Co and we will forward them.  Please make sure you earmark them for Clothe-a-Child!
